The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulates the financial services industry in the UK. In October 2013 it released its Consultation Paper CP13/13 on the FCA’s regulatory approach to crowdfunding (and similar activities). This paper is one of a series of consultation papers that will determine its approach to the regulation of consumer credit activities – this will include responsibility for regulating ‘loan-based crowdfunding’, also known as peer-to-peer lending platforms.
The paper also includes proposals affecting the way it regulates investment-based crowdfunding.
With Crowd Valley recently announcing a partnership in the UK with Sapphire Capital to provide joint services to crowdfunding and online securities platforms, as well as continuing to support a number of existing crowdfunding, peer-to-peer lending and business lending customers in the UK, we felt it important to contribute to this consultation paper.
