Silicon Valley Crowdfund Ventures hosted the second crowdfunding gathering in Palo Alto, California, April 3 & 4. Crowd Valley was present with chairman Jouko Ahvenainen on two panels at the event.
The event was a success with large industry participation from the Crowdfund Intermediary Regulatory Industry Association (CFIRA), leading private market participants such as RealtyMogul for real estate and TradeUp for export financing as well as ecosystem service providers such as BancBox who service payment and custodian solutions to the new domain. Topics debated ranged from crowdfunding for niche segments, impact investments, regulatory developments as well as new segments impacted by newly acted regulation. Also the private capital marketplace was discussed in broader strokes and how new regulation will shape its development and what is to be seen in the market.
The industry is still unclear about the SECs timeframes and final rules on Title III of the JOBS Act, as well as other ongoing discussions such as rules for Title IV of the JOBS Act (proposed amendments to regulation A, which could prove transformational for the sector). The SEC has made comments on the release of new rules for Title III in 2014, and we know they are actively working on outstanding topics in the regulation.
In the panels Crowd Valley Chairman was on, he emphasized the global markets development, such as the increasing demand and interest for new crowd investing and peer to peer models in Asia (such as South East Asia), more established asset classes being affected and professional finance specialists expanding in the crowd investing market. Leading regional experts also shared their insight on local and intra state regulation, regional developments and sectorial experiences. We also heard from renowned experts on detailed legal analysis.
The event was successful in its attendance and we look forward to working with the industry and leading participants as the market continues to grow.
