Venture Camp 2013 is a two-day conference organized by Mind The Bridge, a Silicon Valley foundation for entrepreneurship education and worldwide talent scouting. The conference held in Milan, Italy, hosted a select and restricted audience, mainly composed of angel investors, corporate executives and entrepreneurs. The aim of Venture Camp was to inspire the audience by providing an overview on the main trends and best practices in the early-stage finance market and by having several international investors and entrepreneurs sharing their experiences.
Crowdfunding had a central role during this conference to underline how seriously the professional investor community is considering this new funding method. There were three panels dedicated to the subject, in which Crowd Valley’s CEO, Markus Lampinen, had the opportunity to participate, in order to share the company’s view on the crowdfunding market. The first panel concerned how the JOBS Act is changing angel investing, and featured two serial entrepreneurs and angel investors along with Lampinen; while in the second panel – on new global crowdfunding platforms – Crowd Valley’s CEO sat together with Jeff Lynn, Seedrs’ founder and CEO. Both discussions dealt with interesting questions, such as whether the JOBS Act is helping investors to source better deal flow, whether it is benefiting the entrepreneurs, how the regulators are looking at crowdfunding, and what will crowdfunding 2.0 look like?
