From Friday the 11th to 13th of November, Crowd Valley joined professionals from EY, Capital One, Addepar and CoVenture as well as students from institutions such as Cornell, NYU Stern and Columbia for Cornell’s annual Fintech Hackathon held at their Cornell Tech location in New York City. The focus of the event was to promote the innovation of applications and technology for two verticals: Financial Inclusion and Anti Money Laundering (AML). With $5000 in cash prizes, the event featured a large student turnout filled with exciting ideas to bring to fruition.
Singapore is building its future as a regional fintech hub. Monetary Authority of Singapore, MAS, has taken an active role in this work. Singapore has taken many actions, including a regulatory sandbox, to enable and accelerate more fintech business. An important part of this is Singapore Fintech Festival in mid November.
Crowd Valley was invited to be part of the Middle East's largest technology conference, GITEX, in Dubai from 16-20 October 2016. Crowd Valley's CTO Paul Higgins attended alongside executives from Blockchain, PayPal, the US Department of Homeland Security and many other banks and funds looking to bring the latest innovations in fintech, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure to their financial services operations.
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) organized an investment fund conference in late March, with alternative finance playing an important role at the event. Funds and wealth management business has especially need to find more uncorrelated assets in their operations.
AltFi Europe Summit was organized in London in late March. Online lending services and models particularly dominated the discussion. As a whole the UK-based services and UK regulation were in the main focus at the event. The event served as a good summary of the p2p lending and equity crowdfunding market in the UK and some other countries. At the same it also illustrated, how the discussion now focuses on a few services and countries, when much more happens behind the curtains.
Crowd Valley has been invited to speak at the worlds largest online lending event, LendIt in San Francisco on April 11-12 on Market Best Practices in Efficient Back Office Operations.
