Considering the U.S. has 52 sets of securities laws (federal + the 50 states + D.C), it is no wonder that thousands of lawyers across the country have made comfortable (if paper heavy and, let’s be honest with ourselves, fairly mind-numbing) lives off of this portion of the legal world. U.S. federal and state securities laws are extraordinarily complicated. The Second Edition of Crowdfuture Last Saturday, the second edition of Crowdfuture, one of the largest crowdfunding events in Europe, took place in Rome. Organized by the Italian Crowdfunding Network (ICN) and Nois3lab, the conference had a broad program and interesting national and international speakers. The event kicked off with a plenary session in a crowded room where investors and lawyers wearing black ties were sitting together with young startuppers with colored t-shirts. “Internet technology and renewable energies are beginning to merge to create a new infrastructure for a Third Industrial Revolution” Jeremy Rifkin A recent Citibank study (1) concludes that the global energy mix is shifting more widely than anticipated and that the pace of change in the last five years has been dramatic and will likely accelerate, not slow. Currently, new platforms are evolving with different approaches in order to compete with the current market leaders. They constitute the dominant form of business organisation, accounting for over 95% enterprises globally. Intrapreneurship is a hot topic among big corporations. Many large firms are trying to encourage an entrepreneurial attitude among their employees, in order to foster innovation. Crowdfunding is also another hot trend at the moment. The market is growing fast, touching every day upon different sectors and applications, as also Crowd Valley has been observing in the last 12 months. Now, imagine if the the two phenomena would merge. What the result would be? A neologism and a new crowdfunding application: intra-crowdfunding or enterprise crowdfunding. |
